Dell FM1CF dual M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD adapter with cooling fan, for adding fast local storage to Precision tower workstations.
Dell part FM1CF, also listed as 0FM1CF, is an internal PCIe expansion card that carries up to two M.2 NVMe SSDs in Dell Precision T5820, T7820 and T7920 tower workstations. These models belong to Dell's 2017 Precision generation: the T5820 is built on a single Intel Xeon W processor, while the T7820 and T7920 take two Xeon Scalable processors. The card has no storage of its own, so capacity and speed come entirely from the SSDs you fit. An integrated fan and heatsinks cool both drives, which helps them hold their speed under sustained reads and writes inside a closed tower chassis. IT teams and integrators in Doha and across Qatar buy this refurbished card when a workstation's onboard M.2 positions and drive bays are already in use. Typical roles are a dedicated operating system drive, an application volume, or scratch and project space for CAD, rendering, video editing and data analysis. It is a drive carrier, not a hardware RAID controller.

Dell lists the FM1CF for three Precision tower workstations from the same generation. All three are full tower chassis with room for add-in cards.
| Server | Generation | Note |
|---|---|---|

| Precision T7820 | Intel Xeon Scalable, dual socket | Listed fitment |
| Precision T7920 | Intel Xeon Scalable, dual socket | Listed fitment |
Without VROC RAID the two SSDs still work as separate NVMe drives, and the operating system can combine them into a software-managed volume if required.
Specification
The card accepts M.2 PCIe NVMe SSDs only. SATA M.2 drives use a different protocol and are not supported, so for SATA M.2 storage use a different adapter or a SATA bay in the workstation. RAID across the two drives is handled by the platform through Intel VROC, not by the card.
Installation
The card is not hot-pluggable: shut the workstation down, disconnect mains power and use antistatic precautions before opening the chassis. Fit the M.2 NVMe SSDs under the heatsinks first, then seat the card firmly in a free PCIe slot with the correct bracket for the chassis and secure it. Before installing an operating system to a drive on the card, check the BIOS storage settings on the Precision so the NVMe devices are visible and bootable. If you plan a VROC RAID volume, make sure the workstation configuration and any applicable Intel VROC licence support it before creating the array.

Ask on WhatsApp sales@serverdove.comWhich Dell workstations use the FM1CF dual M.2 adapter?
The FM1CF (0FM1CF) card is listed for the Dell Precision T5820, T7820 and T7920 tower workstations. Before installation, confirm that a suitable PCIe slot is free, that the correct bracket is fitted for the chassis, and that the system configuration supports NVMe devices on an add-in card in that slot.
Does the adapter include any SSDs or storage capacity?
No. The FM1CF is a carrier card with no storage of its own. It holds up to two M.2 PCIe NVMe SSDs, which must be sourced separately. Total capacity and drive performance are determined entirely by the SSDs installed. Each drive can be presented as a separate volume, or combined where the platform supports RAID through Intel VROC.
Can I set up RAID with two NVMe drives on this card?
RAID is not built into the card. Any RAID array across the two SSDs depends on the workstation configuration and on Intel VROC support and the licensing that applies to it. Without VROC RAID, the drives operate as independent NVMe devices and can still be used for software-managed volumes in the operating system.
Does the card accept SATA M.2 SSDs?
The adapter is specified for M.2 PCIe NVMe SSDs. SATA M.2 drives use a different protocol and are not part of the published drive support for this card. For SATA M.2 storage, use a different adapter or a SATA drive bay in the workstation.
Why does the adapter have a fan?
NVMe SSDs heat up under sustained reads and writes and reduce their speed when they get too hot. The FM1CF combines heatsinks with an integrated fan to move air across both drives, which helps them maintain throughput during long transfers, rendering scratch work or large dataset processing inside an enclosed tower chassis.
Can the drives on this adapter be used as a boot drive?
The card is suitable for operating-system, application or project storage. Booting from an NVMe SSD on the adapter depends on the workstation BIOS settings and configuration, including the storage mode set in firmware. Check these settings on the target Precision before installing the operating system to a drive on the card.
What does refurbished mean at ServerDove?
Off-lease or decommissioned enterprise hardware that we clean, test and reset in Doha. Every unit goes through POST, burn-in, memory and drive checks and a power-supply check, with firmware and BIOS returned to defaults and drives securely erased.
Can I ask about the exact unit before I buy?
Yes. Message us the SKU on WhatsApp and we will confirm the condition and configuration of the unit in stock, with photos if you want them.

Why buy refurbished
Enterprise hardware, tested in Doha, at a fraction of the price of new
Every unit we sell has already proven itself in a data centre. We test it again, grade it, and back it with a warranty before it leaves our stock.
Tested before it ships
POST, burn-in, memory and power-supply checks on every unit. Anything that fails is repaired or pulled from stock, not sold.
Same performance, lower cost
A Xeon runs the same workloads whether it is new or two years old. Spend the difference on more CPUs, memory or storage.
In stock, not on order
New enterprise hardware can take weeks or months to arrive. Ours is on the shelf in Doha and delivered across Qatar within a day.
Warranty and local support
Every unit is covered. Installation, configuration and hardware support are handled by our own team in Qatar, not a call centre abroad.
