Power for the rack: hot-plug power supplies for Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant and Dell Precision systems in stock, with UPS systems and rack PDUs sourced to order. Held in Doha for delivery across Qatar.

Power & UPS brings together everything that feeds electricity to a server rack: the hot-plug and internal power supplies that go inside Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant and Dell Precision machines, the uninterruptible power supply that keeps the rack running through a mains failure, and the power distribution unit that spreads one feed across every outlet in the cabinet.

Power supplies are stocked in Doha. UPS systems and rack PDUs are sourced to order, sized to the equipment going into the rack, so this page explains how the three fit together and what the team needs in order to quote.

The three parts of rack power

In a typical cabinet the mains feeds the UPS, the UPS feeds one or two PDUs, and each server's two power supplies plug into different PDUs. That way a failed supply, a tripped PDU or a short mains outage does not take the server down.

What the team needs to quote

  • For a power supply: the server or workstation model, and the part number on the existing unit if you have it.
  • For a UPS: the list of equipment it will protect, how long it must run on battery, and whether it is going in the rack or standing beside it.
  • For a PDU: the cabinet, the number and type of outlets, and the plug on the supply side.
  • For a whole rack: the equipment list is enough. The team works out the load and suggests the supplies, UPS and PDUs together.
