DDR4 vs DDR5 Server Memory: Which Should You Buy in 2026?
DDR5 doubles bandwidth and capacity per module and is the only option on every current platform. DDR4 is...
Hot-plug power supplies for Dell PowerEdge and HPE ProLiant servers and Dell Precision workstations, from 460 W to 1300 W. A PSU must match the server's bay and connector, so send the model and we confirm the fit. Held in Doha.
This range covers replacement and redundant power supplies for Dell PowerEdge and HPE ProLiant servers, and the internal supplies fitted to Dell Precision tower workstations, from 460 W to 1300 W. Server units are hot-plug modules that slide into the power bay at the back of the chassis; the workstation units are internal ATX-form modules that connect through Dell's own harness.
It is for anyone replacing a failed supply, adding a second unit so the server runs on a redundant pair, or stepping a chassis up to a higher wattage for more processors, drives or a graphics card. Refurbished units are tested before listing.
| Family | Fits | Ratings held |
|---|---|---|
| HPE Common Slot | Older ProLiant generations built for the Common Slot bay | 460 W Gold (511777-001) |
| HPE Flex Slot | ProLiant Gen9 and Gen10, including DL360, DL380 and ML350 | 500 W Platinum (723594-001 Gen9, 865399-001 Gen10), 800 W Platinum (723599-001) |
| Dell PowerEdge hot-plug | 13th and 14th generation rack and tower servers such as the R630, R640, R730, R740, T430 and T630 | 750 W Platinum (E750E-S1), 1100 W (L1100E-S1) |
| Dell Precision internal | T5820 and T7820 (950 W), T7910 (1300 W) | 950 W (D950EF-00), 1300 W Gold (H1300EF-02) |
The Flex Slot and PowerEdge bays each take several ratings, so a server can move to a higher wattage by swapping both units for the larger size. Dell's 750 W and 1100 W supplies share the same bay and connector; HPE's 500 W and 800 W Flex Slot units do the same.
Power supplies are held in Doha, with delivery across Qatar typically one day, and are covered by the ServerDove warranty. Send the server or workstation model, or the Dell service tag or HPE serial number, and the team will confirm the family and suggest a rating. For the rest of the rack, see UPS systems, rack PDUs and rails and accessories; other server hardware is in parts and accessories.
The server model decides it. Dell PowerEdge, HPE Common Slot and HPE Flex Slot supplies are different shapes, and within a family some part numbers are tied to a generation. Send the model, or the service tag or serial number, and the team will name the part that fits. The part number printed on the existing supply is the quickest check of all.
Often, yes, as long as the higher rating is one the vendor offers for that bay. Dell's 750 W and 1100 W PowerEdge supplies share a bay, as do HPE's 500 W and 800 W Flex Slot units. Replace both supplies at the same time so the redundant pair matches.
A server runs on one. A second supply of the same rating gives redundancy: if one fails, or one mains feed drops, the server keeps running on the other. For anything in production, two supplies fed from two different power sources is the normal arrangement.
It is not recommended. Where the server tolerates it, the pair is limited to the smaller unit's output and the management controller usually raises a warning. Fit a matched pair.
It is an efficiency rating. A Platinum supply wastes less of the mains power as heat than a Gold one, which lowers the electricity bill and the cooling load a little. It says nothing about the wattage or whether the unit fits your server.
No. The Dell Precision units for the T5820, T7820 and T7910 are internal modules. Shut the workstation down and disconnect the mains before changing one. They are specific to their chassis and are not interchangeable with server supplies.
Usually. Send the requirement by WhatsApp on +974 5521 2108, email sales@serverdove.com or use the contact page. Include the server model and the part number on the existing supply if you have it, and the team will quote a matching unit.
