What's included

Every installation is quoted against a written scope, so you know what you are paying for before we arrive. A typical engagement covers:

Rack & physical install

Rail kit fitting, rack mounting, cable management arms, blanking panels and airflow arrangement. Tower units sited and secured.

Power & cabling

PDU connection, redundant power paths where the hardware supports it, structured data cabling, patching and labelling to a documented scheme.

Firmware & base configuration

BIOS and firmware brought to a current stable release, boot order and power policy set, out-of-band management configured — iDRAC on Dell, iLO on HPE, IMM on Lenovo — with credentials handed to you.

Storage & RAID

Controller configuration, RAID array creation to your specification, hot-spare assignment, drive firmware alignment and health verification before handover.

Network deployment

Switch mounting and stacking, VLAN and uplink configuration to your design, SFP and transceiver fitting, firewall placement and cabling.

Testing & handover

Power-on testing, POST and diagnostic checks, thermal verification under load, and a written handover sheet listing serials, addresses, credentials and the as-built configuration.

How it works

  1. Tell us what you have

    Send your equipment list, rack details and site address by WhatsApp or email. If you bought the hardware from us we already have the specs.

  2. Site survey

    For rack builds and multi-unit deployments we visit first, at no charge, to check rack depth, power availability, cooling and access. Single-unit installs can usually be scoped from photos.

  3. Written quotation

    A fixed-price quote with a defined scope and a scheduled date, back to you within 24 hours of the survey. No hourly billing surprises.

  4. Installation

    We arrive with the tools, rails, cables and blanking panels needed. Out-of-hours and weekend slots are available where downtime matters.

  5. Handover

    You receive a handover document, all credentials, and the equipment running. Post-installation questions are answered on WhatsApp at no charge.

We work daily with the platforms we stock, which means rail kits, caddies, firmware quirks and controller behaviour are familiar rather than researched on site.

Equipment bought elsewhere is welcome. We will tell you honestly before quoting if a unit is not worth installing.

What we don't do

Scope clarity saves everyone time, so it is worth being direct about the boundaries:

  • Electrical works requiring a licensed contractor — new circuits, DB changes, containment installation
  • Civil works — core drilling, floor cutting, raised-floor modification
  • Application-level administration such as Active Directory design, database tuning or software licensing
  • Ongoing managed services or monitoring contracts

Where a job needs any of the above, we will say so at survey and can coordinate with your contractor.

Pricing

Installation is quoted per job, not per hour, because the variables that matter — rack access, unit count, cabling runs, whether the site is live — differ on every project. As a guide:

  • Single server or switch — mount, cable, firmware, base configuration and handover.
  • Multi-unit rack build — full rack, structured cabling, labelling, as-built documentation.
  • Installation with purchase — reduced rate on hardware bought from ServerDove.
