RAID Levels Explained: RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 for Business Servers
RAID levels appear in nearly every storage decision, usually as though everyone already knows why RAID 6 beats...
HPE drives, Smart Array controllers, drive caddies, backplanes, cables and StoreEasy storage servers for ProLiant systems, held in Doha. We confirm the right part from your server model before you order.
This range covers HPE storage parts and systems: SAS and SATA hard drives in 2.5-inch SFF and 3.5-inch LFF sizes, SFF and LFF drive caddies marked for Gen8, Gen9 and Gen10, Smart Array controllers including the P408i-a and P440ar, an 8-bay SFF backplane, an internal Mini-SAS cable and HPE StoreEasy 1650 storage servers.
It is for teams running HPE ProLiant servers in Qatar who need a replacement drive, want to add bays or a controller, or need a ready-built file storage server.
HPE drives ship with HPE firmware, which lets the server's management tools read drive health and apply HPE firmware packages. A generic drive may spin up, but the server can treat it as unsupported. HPE drives fit into carriers that differ between ProLiant generations, so check the caddy against your server before ordering bare drives.
Adding drives to empty bays can take more than the drives. Depending on the server you may also need a backplane for the bay cage, cables from the backplane to the controller, and a controller with enough ports. The table shows what each part does.
| Part | Role | Where to look |
|---|---|---|
| Drive and caddy | Holds the data; the caddy fits the drive to the bay | Hard drives |
| Backplane | Connects the hot-plug bays to the cables | Server backplanes |
| Mini-SAS cable | Links the backplane to the controller | This collection |
| Smart Array controller | Runs RAID and presents the drives to the OS | RAID controllers |
Every part ships from our Doha stock, and delivery across Qatar is usually in one day. Refurbished parts are tested before listing. For file serving, the HPE StoreEasy 1650 range has complete systems. Send your ProLiant model and generation by WhatsApp on +974 5521 2108 or to sales@serverdove.com, and we will list the parts it needs, including anything we source to order.
Our caddy listings state the generations they are made for, and several are marked for Gen8, Gen9 and Gen10. Older ProLiant generations use a different carrier design. Check the listing against your server generation, or send us the server model and we will confirm the caddy before you order.
It may work, but the server can report it as unsupported, show limited health data and exclude it from HPE firmware updates. For production servers most buyers choose HPE-branded drives. Tell us the server model and the workload, and the team will suggest a suitable HPE or generic option.
Smart Array is HPE's range of RAID controllers for ProLiant servers. It connects the drive bays to the system, builds RAID arrays and presents them to the operating system. Some models sit in a dedicated slot on the motherboard and others in a PCIe slot, so the form must suit your server.
If the drive cage in your server has no backplane or you are adding a second cage, yes. The backplane connects the hot-plug bays to the controller through internal cables. Whether a given ProLiant can take an extra cage depends on the model, so send us the details and we will confirm.
It is an HPE storage server built for file sharing and backup, with bays for 3.5-inch LFF drives. We list it in several configurations, including units with drives already fitted. It suits offices that want a dedicated file server rather than adding drives to an application server.
Yes. Send the HPE part number from the old part, or the server model and what you need, by WhatsApp on +974 5521 2108 or email to sales@serverdove.com. The team will check availability and send a quotation, including bulk orders for business customers.
