This refurbished Dell PowerEdge R640 is a 14th generation, two-socket 1U rack server on the Intel Xeon Scalable platform, released in 2017. This unit has 2 x Intel Xeon Gold 6138 processors (20 cores each, 40 cores and 80 threads in total), 96 GB of DDR4 memory and a Dell PERC H730 RAID controller. Storage is 2 x 480 GB SSD for the operating system and active data, plus 1.2 TB of SAS capacity for general files. It suits buyers in Doha and across Qatar who need dense compute in one rack unit: virtualisation hosts, application servers and file services where rack space is limited. Many buyers add an R640 to an existing PowerEdge estate so that management tools, drive carriers and spares stay common.
Will it fit my system?
The R640 takes Dell 14th generation drive carriers. Carriers from earlier generations do not fit.
