This is a refurbished Dell PowerEdge T440, a 14th generation two-socket tower server built on the PowerEdge T440 8LFF Barebone with eight 3.5 inch drive bays and an H330 RAID controller. It is fitted with one Intel Xeon Gold 6230 (20 cores, 2.10 GHz, LGA3647), 24GB of DDR4-2400 ECC RDIMM memory and two HGST Ultrastar 4TB 7.2K 12Gb/s SAS drives, part number HUS724040ALS640, giving 8TB raw. Redundant power supplies and iDRAC9 remote management are fitted. Our reference for this build is SD-000012-ASSY. Buyers in Qatar choose the T440 for offices and branch sites in Doha and elsewhere that have no rack but still need Xeon Scalable processors, ECC memory and hot-plug storage. The empty second socket and six free bays leave room to grow.

What this configuration suits
Compare the workload you have in mind against the fitted components.
A single 20-core processor handles file and print, Active Directory, a small database, backup targets and a handful of virtual machines comfortably. The tower chassis runs quietly enough for an office or comms cupboard.
The two 4TB SAS drives suit a RAID 1 mirror, giving 4TB usable for file shares or backup. The H330 has no cache, so heavy random write loads are better served by more spindles or SSDs.
It suits a few light virtual machines, but a busy hypervisor or database host will need more.
Upgrade paths
- Memory: with one processor fitted, 8 DIMM slots are usable; fitting the second processor enables the other 8.
- Processor: one LGA3647 socket is free; a second Xeon Gold 6230 is the simplest match.
- Storage: 6 of the 8 3.5 inch bays are free for further SAS or SATA drives.
- RAID: adding drives allows RAID 5, 10 or 50 arrays on the H330.
Compatibility
Memory must be DDR4 ECC registered; do not mix registered and unbuffered modules. Fill DIMMs in the order on the chassis label and keep sizes matched per channel for best bandwidth. New drives need Dell 3.5 inch hot-plug carriers for the T440, and a second processor needs its own heatsink. Use 12Gb/s SAS drives alongside the fitted HGST units where possible, and keep each array to one drive type.
