The module combines a finned heatsink with its own shrouded fan, and it is needed both to replace a failed fan and to populate the second socket of a workstation bought with one processor. It is refurbished. Installation
Unplug the workstation and open the side panel. Disconnect the fan cable, loosen the captive screws of the old module in a cross pattern and lift it away. Clean the processor surface, apply fresh thermal compound, seat the 6G1DT squarely and tighten its screws evenly, then connect the fan cable to the processor fan header. Power on and confirm the fan runs and no fan error is shown at start-up.
