The HP Z840 is the flagship of HP's DDR4 generation Z series: a dual socket tower that takes two Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or v4 processors in LGA2011-3 sockets, with 16 DIMM slots for DDR4 ECC Registered memory, PCIe 3.0 slots for several full length graphics cards, and internal bays for NVMe, SATA SSD or hard drives. Nothing is fitted: no CPU, no RAM, no storage. With v4 processors of up to 22 cores each, a Z840 can carry 44 cores and hundreds of gigabytes of memory under a desk, which is why buyers in Qatar choose this refurbished chassis for rendering farms, simulation, video post-production and machine learning development. Chassis and platform
The Z840 chassis is HP's largest tower, with a high wattage power supply, a tool-less interior and airflow designed for two high wattage processors and multiple graphics cards. The platform below is the workstation as HP built it.
What you need to add
Server processors and server memory fit this workstation, so a retired 13th generation server is a ready source of both. Graphics cards, heatsinks and storage are workstation parts.
- One or two Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or v4 processors with Z840 heatsinks, which use HP's own mounting
- DDR4 ECC Registered DIMMs, four per processor to fill every channel, up to sixteen
- Professional graphics cards in the PCIe 3.0 x16 slots
- NVMe M.2 storage on HP Z Turbo Drive adapters, or SATA SSDs and hard drives in the bays
- An operating system licence
A single processor leaves eight DIMM slots and some PCIe slots inactive. Both processors must be from the same family, and v4 parts need system firmware from 2016 or later.

What does refurbished mean at ServerDove?
Off-lease or decommissioned enterprise hardware that we clean, test and reset in Doha. Every unit goes through POST, burn-in, memory and drive checks and a power-supply check, with firmware and BIOS returned to defaults and drives securely erased.

How fast is delivery in Qatar?
