HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 CPU heatsink kit with two cooling fans, the original HPE parts to populate a second processor socket, refurbished.
This kit contains the aluminium processor heatsink for the HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 and the two server cooling fans that HPE requires when the second processor socket is populated. A DL380 Gen9 supplied with one processor ships without the second heatsink and with fan blanks in two positions; fitting a second Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or v4 processor needs all three parts, and this kit is the original HPE set. It is refurbished. Buyers in Qatar order it with a second processor to take a single socket DL380 Gen9 to two, and ServerDove keeps it in Doha stock alongside the processors and the DL380 Gen9 barebone.

The DL380 Gen9 fan bay holds six hot-plug fans, of which a single processor server uses four; the second processor's two fans go in the remaining positions and the system firmware expects them, refusing to run at full performance with the second socket populated and fans missing. The standard heatsink covers processors up to 135W; the hottest v4 parts use HPE's high performance heatsink instead.

The fans are the same hot-plug modules used throughout the DL380 Gen9 and can also serve as spares for the existing four, which is a useful side benefit of the kit. HPE's fan modules report their speed and health to iLO individually, so a failing fan is identified by position.
Installation
Power off and unplug the server, remove the lid and the processor air baffle. Fit the second processor, apply thermal compound, seat the heatsink and tighten its captive screws in a cross pattern. Remove the two fan blanks and press the fans into their bays until they latch; they are hot-plug and need no cables. Refit the baffle and lid, boot, and confirm in iLO that both processors and all six fans are reported.
