The Xeon Platinum 8370C is a 32 core processor of Intel's third generation Xeon Scalable family, the Ice Lake generation for the LGA4189 socket, produced as a custom part for a large cloud provider and now available refurbished. It runs 32 cores and 64 threads at a 2.80GHz base and 3.50GHz turbo with 48MB of cache, eight channels of DDR4-3200 memory and PCIe 4.0, at a 270W rating. It is named as compatible with the Dell PowerEdge R650 and R750. Installation
Fit the processor into the LGA4189 carrier, attach the high wattage heatsink specified for the chassis, and lower the assembly onto the socket, tightening in the marked order. Update the server BIOS to the latest release first, since custom parts are recognised only by recent firmware. Both processors in a server must be 8370C. Populate eight 3200 MT/s DIMMs per socket for full bandwidth, and expect the fans to run harder than with a 200W part.
