The Xeon Silver 4310 belongs to Intel's third generation Xeon Scalable family, the Ice Lake generation that moved the socket to LGA4189, the memory to eight channels of DDR4-3200 and the expansion bus to PCIe 4.0. Twelve cores and 24 threads at a 2.10GHz base and 3.30GHz turbo, 18MB of cache and a 120W rating make it the mainstream Silver processor for 15th generation Dell and Gen10 Plus HPE servers. Clip the processor into its carrier, attach the heatsink, lower the assembly onto the socket and tighten in the marked sequence. Firmware from any 15th generation server supports it. Fit eight DIMMs per socket, rated 3200 MT/s, for full memory bandwidth.
