This refurbished Micron 32GB module, SKU RAM-MICRON-32G-2666, is a 288-pin DDR4 registered ECC DIMM built to the PC4-2666V standard, also labelled PC4-21300. It runs at 2666MT/s, the native memory speed of first-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, and belongs in two-socket servers of that era such as Dell PowerEdge 14th generation and HPE ProLiant Gen10 systems. IT teams in Doha and across Qatar buy it to replace a failed DIMM, fill unused memory channels, or raise capacity in virtualisation and database hosts, where RAM usually runs out before CPU does. A single-processor configuration only uses the slots attached to the installed CPU, so usable capacity is halved. A first-generation Xeon Scalable CPU has six memory channels, and bandwidth is best when each one carries a matched module.
Specification
PC4 marks a DDR4 module, 2666 is the transfer rate in megatransfers per second, and the V suffix is the JEDEC timing grade for that speed bin. PC4-21300 refers to peak bandwidth of about 21,300MB/s. ECC adds eight check bits to every 64-bit word, so single-bit errors are corrected without the operating system noticing.
Installation
Memory is not hot-plug: shut the server down, remove the power cords and use an anti-static strap before opening the chassis. Open the slot latches, align the notch on the module with the key in the slot, and press down evenly until both latches close. Follow Dell or HPE population order for your processor count, and fill channels evenly. Do not mix RDIMMs with LRDIMMs or unbuffered DIMMs in the same server, and expect mixed-speed memory to run at the speed of the slowest module. No drivers are needed; after boot, check that the full capacity appears in the BIOS, iDRAC or iLO.
