This is a refurbished SK Hynix 16GB DDR4 registered DIMM, listed under our SKU RAM-SKHYNIX-16G-2400. It is a 288-pin, 1.2 V module built to the PC4-2400T standard, rated at 2400 MT/s with CL17 timing and error-correcting code. The register buffers command and address signals between the memory controller and the DRAM, so a server can carry more DIMMs per channel than unbuffered memory allows. It belongs in dual-socket Intel Xeon E5 v4 platforms, the generation that includes Dell PowerEdge 13th generation and HPE ProLiant Gen9 servers. 2400 MT/s is the highest memory speed that processor family supports. IT teams in Doha and across Qatar use it to replace a failed DIMM with a matching part, add capacity to a virtualisation or database host, or fill unpopulated channels on a file or lab server. At 16GB per module, capacity can be added in steps without moving to larger, costlier DIMMs.

The 19,200 MB/s figure is the theoretical peak per module at 2400 MT/s, and the T timing grade corresponds to CAS latency 17. Actual operating speed depends on the processor and on how many DIMMs are installed per channel. On Xeon E5 v3 processors, which top out at 2133 MT/s, the module runs at the lower speed.
Installation
Memory is not hot-plug: shut the server down, disconnect the power cords and wear an antistatic strap before opening the chassis. Open the slot clips, align the notch on the module with the key in the slot and press the DIMM down evenly until both clips close. Follow the server's population order, filling the first slot of each channel first and balancing modules across both processors. Do not mix RDIMMs with LRDIMMs or UDIMMs, and keep capacity, speed and rank matched across each channel so the platform can use its full memory bandwidth. If this module shares a server with slower DDR4 RDIMMs, all memory runs at the speed of the slowest module.
