The Ultrastar DC HC510 is Western Digital's helium filled data centre hard drive, and HUH721008AL5204 is the 8TB SAS version: 7,200 rpm, a 12Gb/s SAS interface, Advanced Format sectors and a 3.5 inch hot-plug form factor. Helium filling lets the drive run cooler and draw less power than air filled drives of the same capacity, which matters in a chassis full of them. It is refurbished and sold as a bare drive. Buyers in Qatar use the HC510 for capacity servers, backup targets and video archives, where eight or twelve of them fill a 2U chassis, and to match existing HC510 arrays.
