Dell PowerEdge 3.5 inch LFF hot-plug drive caddy for 14th, 15th and 16th generation servers, R440 to R760 and C6400.
This is Dell's current design 3.5 inch large form factor drive carrier, the hot-plug tray that holds a SAS or SATA hard drive in the LFF bays of Dell's 14th, 15th and 16th generation PowerEdge servers. Dell kept one LFF carrier across three generations, so it fits the R440, R640 and R740 as well as the R750, R7515, R760 and the C6400 series. It is refurbished and supplied empty. Buyers in Qatar need one for every bare LFF drive fitted to a current Dell server, and ServerDove keeps this tray in Doha stock in quantity so 8TB and 12TB drives and their caddies can be ordered together for R740 and R750 storage builds.

Specification
The carrier fastens the drive with four side screws and has a release lever with a light pipe that shows the drive's activity and fault indicators on the front of the tray. It replaced the 13th generation LFF tray, which does not fit these bays, and a 2.5 inch drive goes into it only with Dell's adapter caddy. Buyers of ServerDove's R740 8 x 3.5 inch barebone, which ships with fillers but no caddies, need eight of these to populate it.
Installation
Fit the drive in the carrier with its connector to the rear and fasten the four side screws. Remove the bay filler, slide the carrier in with the lever open until it stops, and close the lever to seat the drive; the PERC detects it within seconds. Keep fillers in unused bays to maintain airflow across the drive cage.

What does refurbished mean at ServerDove?
Off-lease or decommissioned enterprise hardware that we clean, test and reset in Doha. Every unit goes through POST, burn-in, memory and drive checks and a power-supply check, with firmware and BIOS returned to defaults and drives securely erased.
