HPE part 756907-001 is the dual Mini SAS cable for the ProLiant DL360 Gen9, connecting the server's 8SFF 2.5 inch drive backplane to the Smart Array controller with two SFF-8087 Mini SAS connectors, each carrying four SAS lanes. It is the internal storage cable HPE fitted at the factory, cut to the DL360 Gen9's routing, and it is the part needed when a controller is added to a barebone chassis that came without cables or when a cable has been damaged. It is refurbished. Eight drives need eight SAS lanes, which is why the cable is a dual: each SFF-8087 connector carries four lanes, and the two together serve the eight bays at full 12Gb/s per lane. HPE routes the cable along the chassis wall under the air baffle, and its length and connector orientation match that path; a generic Mini SAS cable of the wrong length either will not reach or will obstruct the baffle. The same connector standard is used on the Gen9 Smart Array cards and on the embedded controller.
Buyers of ServerDove's DL360 Gen9 barebone who add their own controller will need this cable set if the chassis arrived without one, and it is held in Doha stock for that reason.
Installation
Power the server down and unplug it, remove the lid and the air baffle. Connect one end of each cable to the backplane's two ports and route the cables along the chassis channel to the controller, connecting each to a controller port and noting which serves bays one to four and five to eight. Refit the baffle and lid. On boot the controller should show all eight bays, which confirms both cables are seated.
