Compatibility
The R640 takes standard 14th generation PowerEdge parts. Use the guide below when adding drives or memory.
Do not mix RDIMMs and LRDIMMs in the same server, and keep DIMM sizes balanced across both processors for best memory bandwidth. New drives can be added to the H730 as a separate virtual disk without disturbing the existing array. Both supplies in the redundant pair must be the same wattage, or the server reports a mismatch. Older 13th generation drive carriers do not fit the R640 front bays.
