Refurbished · Tested
Dell PowerEdge T440 8LFF barebone tower server with PERC H330 RAID controller, two heatsinks and two caddies, ready for your CPUs.
This refurbished Dell PowerEdge T440, SKU SRV-DELL-T440-BARE-H330-2HS-2C, is a 14th-generation dual-socket tower server supplied as a barebone. The 8LFF chassis has eight 3.5 inch bays for SAS or SATA drives, with a Dell PERC H330 RAID controller, both CPU heatsinks and two drive caddies already fitted. No processors, memory or drives are installed. The platform takes Intel Xeon Scalable processors in two LGA3647 sockets, has sixteen DDR4 ECC Registered DIMM slots, and uses iDRAC9 for out-of-band management. It suits IT teams, resellers and small businesses in Doha and elsewhere in Qatar who already hold compatible Xeon Scalable CPUs and DDR4 Registered DIMMs, or who want to choose every core component themselves. Typical builds are branch-office file and backup servers, on-premises Windows Server or Linux hosts, and quiet under-desk installations where no rack is available.
SRV-DELL-T440-BARE-H330-2HS-2CChassis and platform
The T440 belongs to Dell's 14th-generation PowerEdge family, built around Intel Xeon Scalable processors. This unit is the 8-bay 3.5 inch version with the non-cached PERC H330 controller, so it is aimed at capacity storage rather than heavy transactional write loads.
What you need to add
The chassis, controller and cooling are in place, so the build comes down to processors, memory and disks. With both heatsinks already fitted, you can start with one processor and add the second later without sourcing cooling parts.
- One or two Intel Xeon Scalable processors for the LGA3647 sockets. A dual-processor build should use a matched pair.
- DDR4 ECC Registered DIMMs. Each processor controls its own bank of slots, so with one CPU fitted only that CPU's slots are usable.
- 3.5 inch SAS or SATA drives for the operating system and data.
- Additional 14th-generation PowerEdge 3.5 inch caddies if you plan to fill more than two bays. Six more are needed to populate all eight.
Check that the system BIOS is at a level that supports the processors you choose before first boot. Populate memory evenly across channels, following Dell's T440 population rules, to get full memory bandwidth. A RAID 1 mirror across the two supplied caddies is a practical starting point for the boot volume.
Compatibility
The T440 accepts DDR4 ECC Registered memory only; unbuffered desktop DIMMs will not work. The bays take 3.5 inch SAS or SATA hard drives in 14th-generation PowerEdge 3.5 inch caddies, which are the type supplied here. Older PowerEdge caddies from earlier generations are a different design and should not be mixed in. The PERC H330 supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and 50 but not RAID 6 or 60, so plan larger arrays around RAID 5, 10 or 50. The PCIe 3.0 slots can take a faster network adapter if the two embedded 1GbE ports are not enough.

Ask on WhatsApp sales@serverdove.comWhat do I need to add to make this Dell T440 barebone work?
This T440 ships without processors, memory or drives. To bring it up you need at least one Intel Xeon Scalable processor for the LGA3647 socket, DDR4 ECC Registered memory, and SAS or SATA drives for the operating system and data. Both CPU heatsinks and the PERC H330 controller are already installed. Two drive caddies are included, so additional 3.5-inch caddies are only needed if you plan to fill more than two bays.
Which processors does the PowerEdge T440 support?
The T440 is a dual-socket platform built on Intel's LGA3647 socket and takes Intel Xeon Scalable processors. You can run a single CPU or install a matched pair. Both heatsinks are included in this configuration, so adding a second processor later does not require extra cooling hardware. Check that any CPU you choose is listed for the T440 and that the BIOS is at a level that supports it.
What RAID levels does the PERC H330 in this server support?
The Dell PERC H330 supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and 50 and connects to drives over 12Gb/s SAS. It does not support RAID 6 or 60, and it has no onboard cache. It suits boot mirrors, file servers and general-purpose arrays well. For heavily write-intensive workloads, a cached PERC controller would be a better choice.
How many drives can the T440 8LFF hold, and what type?
This chassis has eight 3.5-inch large-form-factor bays and accepts SAS or SATA drives through the PERC H330. Two caddies are supplied, so you can install a mirrored pair immediately. Filling all eight bays requires six more PowerEdge 14th-generation 3.5-inch caddies. The LFF layout suits high-capacity hard drives for backup, file storage and archive use.
What memory does the Dell PowerEdge T440 use and how many slots are there?
The T440 has sixteen DIMM slots for DDR4 ECC Registered memory. Slot availability depends on how many processors are installed, because each CPU controls its own bank of memory channels. With a single processor, only that CPU's slots are usable. For best performance, populate memory evenly across channels following Dell's population guidelines for the T440.
Can I manage this server remotely?
Yes. The PowerEdge T440 includes iDRAC9, Dell's integrated remote access controller. It lets administrators monitor hardware health, view and control the system console, mount virtual media for OS installs and apply firmware updates over the network, independently of the installed operating system. The feature set depends on the iDRAC licence level applied to the system.
Does the T440 have built-in networking?
The T440 includes two embedded 1GbE network ports. These handle standard LAN connectivity and can be teamed for basic redundancy. If you need 10GbE or faster networking, the server's PCIe 3.0 expansion slots can take a compatible add-in network adapter.

A Xeon runs the same workloads whether it is new or two years old. Spend the difference on more CPUs, memory or storage.
In stock, not on order
New enterprise hardware can take weeks or months to arrive. Ours is on the shelf in Doha and delivered across Qatar within a day.
Warranty and local support
Every unit is covered. Installation, configuration and hardware support are handled by our own team in Qatar, not a call centre abroad.
