The Precision T5820 is the single-socket tower in Dell's Precision 5000 range, introduced in 2017 and built around the LGA2066 socket. It takes one Intel Xeon W or Core X Series processor, DDR4 memory in ECC or non-ECC form, PCIe 3.0 add-in cards, and NVMe or SATA drives. - DDR4 memory: ECC modules with a Xeon W processor, non-ECC modules with a Core X processor. Populate in sets of four to use all memory channels.

Compatibility
Processors must be LGA2066 parts from the Intel Xeon W or Core X Series families. Processors for other sockets, including LGA2011 and LGA3647, will not fit. Memory must be DDR4; DDR3 and DDR5 modules are keyed differently and will not seat. Do not mix ECC and non-ECC modules in one system, and keep all modules the same capacity and speed for stable quad-channel operation. Storage can be NVMe or SATA, so drives taken from earlier workstations can usually be reused, and PCIe 3.0 cards fit the expansion slots, with PCIe 4.0 cards running at PCIe 3.0 speed. Update the BIOS to a current Dell release before installing a newer processor.
