What you need to add
The server arrives empty of compute and storage. Plan the build before ordering parts, as processor count decides how many memory slots and PCIe slots are usable.
- One or two Intel Xeon Scalable processors (LGA3647), with matching heatsinks for each socket.
- DDR4 ECC registered memory, installed in balanced sets per processor for full memory bandwidth.
- SAS, SATA or SSD drives, each in an HPE Gen10 compatible drive carrier.
- A storage controller or HBA if you plan to run SAS drives or need hardware RAID with cache.
- A second Flexible Slot power supply if you want redundant power.
Use identical processors when fitting two. A single-processor build works, but half the DIMM slots and some PCIe slots stay inactive until the second socket is populated.
Compatibility
Memory must be DDR4 ECC registered or load-reduced modules; unbuffered desktop DIMMs will not work, and registered and load-reduced modules must not be mixed in one server. Drives fit in HPE Gen10 compatible carriers, the same carrier style used across Gen8, Gen9 and Gen10 ProLiant servers. Power supplies must be HPE Flexible Slot units, and both units in a redundant pair must be the same wattage. Update the system ROM and iLO5 firmware before installing second generation Xeon Scalable processors, as older firmware may not recognise them. For rack installation, order the HPE tower to rack conversion kit for this model.
