Micron 16GB DDR4-2133 ECC registered DIMM, PC4-2133 (PC4-17000), for Dell PowerEdge 13th generation and HPE ProLiant Gen9 servers.
This is a refurbished Micron 16GB DDR4 registered ECC memory module, sold under SKU RAM-MICRON-16G-2133. It is a 288-pin RDIMM built to the PC4-2133 standard, also labelled PC4-17000, running at 2133MT/s on 1.2V. That is the memory type the Intel Xeon E5 v3 and v4 platforms were designed around, which covers Dell PowerEdge 13th generation and HPE ProLiant Gen9 servers such as the R630, R730, DL360 Gen9 and DL380 Gen9. IT teams in Qatar buy it to replace a failed DIMM, to add capacity to a virtualisation or database host, or to bring a lightly populated server up to an even set across its memory channels. We hold it in Doha for administrators extending the working life of existing dual-socket hardware rather than replacing it.
RAM-MICRON-16G-2133Will it fit my system?
These servers run Intel Xeon E5 v3 or v4 processors and use DDR4 registered ECC memory, the type this module provides. Each has 24 DIMM slots across two processors.
| Server | Generation | Note |
|---|---|---|
| PowerEdge R630 | 13th generation | DDR4 RDIMM, 1U |
| PowerEdge R730 | 13th generation | DDR4 RDIMM, 2U |
| ProLiant DL360 Gen9 | Gen9 | DDR4 RDIMM, 1U |
| ProLiant DL380 Gen9 | Gen9 | DDR4 RDIMM, 2U |
Do not mix RDIMMs with LRDIMMs or unbuffered modules in the same server. Mixing this module with faster DDR4-2400 RDIMMs generally works, but the memory controller then runs every installed module at 2133MT/s. For predictable behaviour, keep capacity, rank and speed matched within each channel. Some HPE systems display a notice for non-HPE branded memory at boot.
Specification
Three values decide whether a server will accept this module: DDR4, registered and ECC. Desktop boards that take only unbuffered DDR4 will not run it, even though the 288-pin connector is the same, and DDR3 (PC3) slots use a different pin count and key position.
Installation
Memory is not hot-plug: shut the server down, remove both power cords and work on an anti-static surface. Populate slots by the server vendor's guidelines, which typically fill one DIMM per channel first, balanced across both processors. Line up the key notch with the slot, press the module down evenly until both latches close, then refit the cover. On power-up, confirm the total capacity in the BIOS, iDRAC or iLO before returning the host to service.

Ask on WhatsApp sales@serverdove.comIs this Micron 16GB module registered or unbuffered memory?
It is a registered DIMM (RDIMM). A register on the module buffers command and address signals between the memory controller and DRAM chips, reducing load on the memory channel. This is the standard type for dual-socket Xeon servers. RDIMMs will not work in desktop systems or servers that only accept unbuffered DIMMs, so check that your platform supports DDR4 registered ECC memory before ordering.
Will this RAM work in a Dell PowerEdge R730 or R630?
Dell PowerEdge 13th generation servers such as the R630 and R730 use DDR4 ECC registered DIMMs, and DDR4-2133 is a speed these Xeon E5 v3 and v4 systems are designed around. This module matches that memory type. Follow Dell's population guidelines for channel order, and avoid mixing RDIMMs with LRDIMMs in the same server.
Is it compatible with HPE ProLiant Gen9 servers?
HPE ProLiant Gen9 models such as the DL360 Gen9 and DL380 Gen9 use DDR4 registered ECC memory on Intel Xeon E5 v3 and v4 processors, which is the memory type this module provides. Some HPE systems may display a notice for non-HPE branded memory at boot. Populate DIMMs according to HPE's slot guidelines for each processor.
What does PC4-2133 mean, and is it the same as PC4-17000?
PC4-2133 identifies a DDR4 module running at 2133 megatransfers per second. PC4-17000 is the equivalent naming based on peak module bandwidth of roughly 17,000MB/s. Both labels describe the same speed grade. The PC4 prefix confirms DDR4, so this module is not compatible with DDR3 (PC3) slots, which use a different pin count and key position.
Can I mix this 2133MT/s module with faster DDR4-2400 RDIMMs?
Most servers will accept mixed DDR4 RDIMM speeds, but the memory controller generally runs all installed modules at the speed of the slowest one, so a mix would operate at 2133MT/s. For predictable behaviour it is best to keep capacity, rank and speed matched within each channel and follow your server vendor's population rules.
Does this module work in a desktop PC?
Generally not. Mainstream desktop processors and motherboards support unbuffered DDR4 and do not accept registered DIMMs, even though the 288-pin connector is the same. This module is intended for server and workstation platforms whose memory controllers support registered ECC DDR4, such as systems built on Intel Xeon E5 v3 and v4 processors.
What are the benefits of ECC on this server memory?
ECC, or error-correcting code, allows the memory system to detect and automatically correct single-bit errors and detect multi-bit errors. In servers that run continuously, that helps prevent silent data corruption, application crashes and unexpected reboots. It is particularly valuable on virtualisation hosts, databases and storage servers where memory holds large volumes of active data.
What does refurbished mean at ServerDove?
Off-lease or decommissioned enterprise hardware that we clean, test and reset in Doha. Every unit goes through POST, burn-in, memory and drive checks and a power-supply check, with firmware and BIOS returned to defaults and drives securely erased.
Can I ask about the exact unit before I buy?
Yes. Message us the SKU on WhatsApp and we will confirm the condition and configuration of the unit in stock, with photos if you want them.

Why buy refurbished
Enterprise hardware, tested in Doha, at a fraction of the price of new
Every unit we sell has already proven itself in a data centre. We test it again, grade it, and back it with a warranty before it leaves our stock.
Tested before it ships
POST, burn-in, memory and power-supply checks on every unit. Anything that fails is repaired or pulled from stock, not sold.
Same performance, lower cost
A Xeon runs the same workloads whether it is new or two years old. Spend the difference on more CPUs, memory or storage.
In stock, not on order
New enterprise hardware can take weeks or months to arrive. Ours is on the shelf in Doha and delivered across Qatar within a day.
Warranty and local support
Every unit is covered. Installation, configuration and hardware support are handled by our own team in Qatar, not a call centre abroad.
