Micron 32GB DDR4-3200 ECC registered DIMM, PC4-3200AA, for adding memory to Intel Xeon Scalable and AMD EPYC servers.
This is a refurbished Micron 32GB registered ECC memory module, SKU RAM-MICRON-32G-3200, built to the JEDEC PC4-3200AA specification and also known by its bandwidth rating PC4-25600. It is a 288-pin DDR4 RDIMM running at 3200 MT/s (DDR4-3200) on 1.2 V, the top speed grade JEDEC defines for DDR4. It suits servers and workstations designed for registered DDR4, including Intel Xeon Scalable and AMD EPYC platforms, Dell PowerEdge 14th and 15th generation, and HPE ProLiant Gen10 and Gen10 Plus. IT teams in Doha and across Qatar buy it to add capacity to existing DDR4 hosts running virtualisation, databases, and file or backup services. Sixteen modules give 512GB in a two-socket server, and 24 give 768GB. On processors limited to 2666 or 2933 MT/s the module runs at the lower rate, so one part serves several hardware generations.
RAM-MICRON-32G-3200Will it fit my system?
DDR4-3200 ECC RDIMMs are the memory type used in these PowerEdge models. The operating speed is set by the installed processor and by how many DIMMs share each channel, not by the module.
| Server | Generation | Note |
|---|---|---|
| PowerEdge R640 | 14th generation | Runs at the CPU limit of 2666 or 2933 MT/s |
| PowerEdge R740 | 14th generation | Runs at the CPU limit of 2666 or 2933 MT/s |
| PowerEdge R650 | 15th generation | Up to 3200 MT/s, depending on CPU and population |
| PowerEdge R750 | 15th generation | Up to 3200 MT/s, depending on CPU and population |
Registered DIMMs cannot be mixed with LRDIMMs or unbuffered DIMMs in the same system. If a server is already populated with LRDIMMs, expand it with LRDIMMs instead.
Specification
The AA suffix corresponds to CAS latency 22 at 3200 MT/s. The 25.6GB/s figure is per module; it multiplies as more of the processor's memory channels are populated, which is why balanced population matters for memory-bound workloads.
Installation
Memory is not hot-plug: shut the server down, disconnect power and use an antistatic strap before opening the chassis. Fit modules in matched sets and follow the server vendor's population order so every channel is balanced; one DIMM per channel first gives the best speed. If you mix this module with other DDR4 RDIMMs, all memory runs at the speed of the slowest module or the platform limit, whichever is lower. ECC is handled by the processor's memory controller and needs no configuration; corrected errors appear in the server's management logs.

Ask on WhatsApp sales@serverdove.comWill this Micron 32GB RDIMM work in a desktop PC?
Generally, no. This is a registered (buffered) ECC module, and it needs a motherboard and processor that support registered DDR4 memory. Consumer desktop boards use unbuffered DIMMs and will usually not boot with an RDIMM installed. The module is intended for servers and workstations built on platforms such as Intel Xeon Scalable or AMD EPYC that are designed for registered memory.
What does PC4-3200AA mean?
PC4 identifies the module as DDR4. The number 3200 refers to its data rate of 3200 megatransfers per second, equivalent to the PC4-25600 bandwidth rating of 25.6GB/s. The AA suffix is the JEDEC timing bin, which for DDR4-3200 corresponds to CAS latency 22. Modules sharing the PC4-3200AA designation follow the same standard speed and timing profile.
Will it run at 3200MT/s in my Xeon Scalable server?
That depends on the processor. 3rd generation Xeon Scalable processors support DDR4-3200 on many models. Earlier generations are limited to 2666MT/s or 2933MT/s depending on the CPU, and some lower-tier models run slower still. In those systems the module automatically runs at the highest speed the platform supports. Population, such as two DIMMs per channel, can also reduce the operating speed.
Can I mix this module with LRDIMMs or unbuffered memory?
No. Registered DIMMs cannot be combined with load-reduced DIMMs (LRDIMMs) or unbuffered DIMMs in the same system, because each type uses a different buffering scheme and the memory controller expects one type throughout. If your server already contains RDIMMs, this module is the appropriate type. If it is populated with LRDIMMs, you will need LRDIMMs to expand it.
Can I mix it with other DDR4 RDIMMs of different speeds or capacities?
Mixing DDR4 RDIMMs is often possible, but all memory then runs at the speed of the slowest module or the platform limit, whichever is lower. Server vendors also publish rules on mixing capacities and ranks within a channel. For the most predictable results and best performance, install identical modules in matched sets and follow your server's memory population guide.
Is this module used in Dell PowerEdge and HPE ProLiant servers?
Yes. DDR4-3200 ECC RDIMMs are the memory type used in DDR4 generations of these lines, including Dell PowerEdge 14th and 15th generation models such as the R640, R740, R650 and R750, and HPE ProLiant Gen10 and Gen10 Plus servers. Check the specific server's memory configuration guide for slot population order and supported speeds before installing.
How much total memory can I build with 32GB modules?
Total capacity depends on how many DIMM slots your server has. A two-socket system with sixteen slots reaches 512GB when every slot holds a 32GB module, and a board with 24 slots reaches 768GB. Many administrators populate one DIMM per channel first for the best speed, then add more modules as workloads grow, following the vendor's balanced population rules.
Do I need to configure anything to use ECC?
Usually not. ECC is handled by the processor's memory controller, and server platforms that accept registered DDR4 memory support ECC as standard. Once the module is installed, error correction works transparently and does not depend on the operating system. Server management tools and system logs can report corrected errors, which helps administrators spot a failing module before it causes downtime.
