This Micron 8GB DDR4 registered DIMM runs at 2400MT/s with ECC, the specification of the module ServerDove fits to many of its own assembled servers and workstations in Doha. It is the module for populating memory channels at low cost: six of them fill the six channels of a Xeon Scalable processor at 48GB, and four fill the four channels of a Xeon E5 v4 processor at 32GB, in each case at full bandwidth. A 2400MT/s module is the natural fit for Xeon E5 v4 servers, which run memory at exactly that speed. In a first generation Xeon Scalable server it runs at 2400MT/s rather than the 2666MT/s the Gold processors support, a small penalty that matters little for general workloads and not at all for storage or backup servers. It is registered ECC memory and belongs in servers and workstations that take RDIMMs, not in desktops.
Installation
Turn the server off and unplug it. Follow the board's population order, one module per channel per processor first, and keep all modules in the system the same speed and type. Press the module into its slot until the latches close, then confirm the capacity and the 2400MT/s speed in the BIOS at boot. When adding to a ServerDove assembled server that already holds this part, the new modules simply continue the existing sequence.
