Palo Alto PA-440 next generation firewall for branch offices, with eight 1Gb RJ45 ports, PAN-OS, threat prevention and VPN, supplied without subscriptions.
The PA-440 is the branch office model of Palo Alto Networks' PA-440 Series, a compact appliance running PAN-OS, the same operating system as the company's data centre firewalls. It identifies traffic by application and user rather than by port, applies security policy on that basis, and supports advanced threat prevention and IPsec and GlobalProtect VPN. Eight RJ45 Ethernet ports at 1Gb connect the WAN, the LAN and any segmented networks. Organisations in Qatar that run Palo Alto at head office deploy a refurbished PA-440 at branches so the same policy and management, through Panorama, extends to every site. ServerDove keeps it in Doha stock. No licence or subscription is included; see the licensing note below.
FW-PALOALTO-PA440Specification
The PA-440 is a small desktop chassis that can also be rack mounted with a tray. Its eight ports are all 1Gb copper; there is no fibre on this model, so a fibre internet service terminates on a media converter or the provider's equipment first.
Licensing note
This appliance is supplied without any licence or subscription. Palo Alto's threat prevention, URL filtering, WildFire and GlobalProtect services, and support entitlement, are sold as subscriptions tied to the device serial number and must be purchased from Palo Alto Networks or a partner before those features are active. Basic firewalling and PAN-OS operation do not require a subscription, but the value of the platform lies in the services, so budget for them as part of the deployment.
Installation
Connect to the management port, set the management address, and either configure locally through the web interface or add the device to Panorama for central management. Apply the current PAN-OS release before deployment. Assign the eight data ports to zones according to the site design, typically an untrust zone for the WAN and trust zones for the LAN segments.

Why buy refurbished
Enterprise hardware, tested in Doha, at a fraction of the price of new
Every unit we sell has already proven itself in a data centre. We test it again, grade it, and back it with a warranty before it leaves our stock.
Tested before it ships
POST, burn-in, memory and power-supply checks on every unit. Anything that fails is repaired or pulled from stock, not sold.
Same performance, lower cost
A Xeon runs the same workloads whether it is new or two years old. Spend the difference on more CPUs, memory or storage.
In stock, not on order
New enterprise hardware can take weeks or months to arrive. Ours is on the shelf in Doha and delivered across Qatar within a day.
Warranty and local support
Every unit is covered. Installation, configuration and hardware support are handled by our own team in Qatar, not a call centre abroad.
