Compatibility is decided by the platform
A component that works in one server can fail to start in the next model along, even from the same vendor. Sockets change between generations, memory types are not interchangeable, and Dell and HPE design their RAID controllers, risers and power supplies around particular chassis. Firmware matters too: a newer processor or controller can need a BIOS or firmware update before the server recognises it.

Do you sell new or refurbished server components?
Both. ServerDove sells new and refurbished components, and each listing states which it is. Refurbished processors, memory, controllers and graphics cards are tested before they are listed, and all hardware is covered by the ServerDove warranty. If you need a new part specifically, or a refurbished one to keep costs down, say so in your enquiry and the team will quote accordingly.
How do I know if a component will work in my server?
Send the server or workstation model, or the Dell service tag or HPE serial number, with the part you are considering. Compatibility depends on socket and generation for processors, DIMM type and speed for memory, mounting format and cabling for RAID controllers, and size and power for graphics cards. The team checks these against your system before you order rather than leaving you to guess.
Can I mix components from different brands in one server?
Processors in a dual-socket server must be identical models, so they are never mixed. Memory from different manufacturers usually works together when the type, speed, rank and capacity match, although identical modules in each channel is the safer choice. RAID controllers, risers and power supplies are generally vendor-specific, so a Dell part belongs in a Dell server and an HPE part in an HPE server.
Can ServerDove fit the components for me?
Yes. Installation, cabling and base configuration are available as a service, so a processor upgrade, memory expansion or controller replacement can be done for you. This is useful when a change also needs a BIOS or firmware update, or when a RAID array has to be set up afterwards. Ask for the service when you request a quote.
