Dell PowerEdge T160 tower server, SKU SRV-DELL-T160-6315P-32G-4TB, with Xeon 6315P, 32GB DDR5 and 4TB HDD for office and backup duties.
This is a refurbished Dell PowerEdge T160, a single-socket tower server from Dell's 16th generation PowerEdge range, listed under SKU SRV-DELL-T160-6315P-32G-4TB. It is fitted with an Intel Xeon 6315P processor (4 cores, 4 threads), 32GB of DDR5 ECC memory and one 4TB SATA hard drive. It also has a dual-port 1Gb network card, a 300 W power supply and iDRAC9 remote management. The T160 is Dell's entry tower server. It is built to sit on or under a desk, or in a small comms cupboard, where there is no rack. Buyers in Qatar typically use this configuration as a first office server, a file server or a backup target for a small team. We keep it in Doha ready to deploy.
SRV-DELL-T160-6315P-32G-4TBFull configuration
The first rows give the configuration as fitted. The later rows describe the T160 platform, so you can see how far this unit can grow. The T160 is a 16th generation PowerEdge with a single processor socket and DDR5 memory.
What this configuration suits
Compare the workload you have in mind against the fitted components.
This build is a file and print server for an office of up to a few dozen users. It also works as a domain controller, or as a backup target running a backup agent or a Windows Server backup role. The 4TB drive holds shared documents and several generations of PC or NAS backups.
It is not a virtualisation host for more than one or two small virtual machines. With 32GB of ECC memory, a small database or line-of-business application will run comfortably alongside file sharing.
A single drive has no redundancy, so add a second drive and mirror it before you keep the only copy of any data on this server. The 1Gb network ports suit an office switch, but they will cap transfer speed for large backup jobs.
Upgrade paths
- Memory: the T160 has 4 DDR5 UDIMM slots and takes up to 128GB. Doubling to 64GB is the first upgrade if you plan to run virtual machines.
- Storage: one drive is fitted in a chassis that takes up to 4 x 3.5 inch drives. That leaves room to add a mirror partner or build a larger array.
- Processor: the platform is single socket, so processing capacity grows only by changing the CPU, not by adding a second one.
Compatibility
Memory must be DDR5 ECC unbuffered DIMMs (UDIMM). Registered DDR5 RDIMMs and non-ECC desktop modules will not work. For best results, match the capacity and speed of the fitted modules and populate the slots in pairs.
Additional drives should be 3.5 inch SATA hard drives. For a mirrored pair, use a drive of the same capacity as the fitted 4TB unit. Update the BIOS and iDRAC9 firmware through the Dell Lifecycle Controller before you add hardware or install an operating system. Use iDRAC9 to check that new memory and drives are detected after installation.

Why buy refurbished
Enterprise hardware, tested in Doha, at a fraction of the price of new
Every unit we sell has already proven itself in a data centre. We test it again, grade it, and back it with a warranty before it leaves our stock.
Tested before it ships
POST, burn-in, memory and power-supply checks on every unit. Anything that fails is repaired or pulled from stock, not sold.
Same performance, lower cost
A Xeon runs the same workloads whether it is new or two years old. Spend the difference on more CPUs, memory or storage.
In stock, not on order
New enterprise hardware can take weeks or months to arrive. Ours is on the shelf in Doha and delivered across Qatar within a day.
Warranty and local support
Every unit is covered. Installation, configuration and hardware support are handled by our own team in Qatar, not a call centre abroad.
